Super Deli Mart, the best little mini-mart in the World, is celebrating their 3rd Anniversary this Sunday, June 24th from noon to 4:00PM with another customer appreciation BBQ. Can you believe it? Three years already, and Super Deli Mart has attained quite the reputation and quite a following.
If you've never been there, you're missing out. With 5 taps and hundreds of bottle choices, Super Deli Mart rivals most Puget Sound area bottle shops and even a few taprooms. And with everyday prices of $3 pints (or schooners, depending on the style/strength of the beers on tap) and $10 growler fills (though, no growler fills are allowed for certain specialty beers), it's a craft beer bargain-hunter's dream.

Good food can sometimes take a back seat to good beer. In fact, many smaller local breweries don't even offer food beyond snacks like chips, pretzels and nuts. That's okay, of course, for the smaller and newer breweries, who may not have expanded enough yet to offer a full food menu, but pubs and breweries that do offer a full food menu understand that having good food to pair with your beers is a very important consideration.

Next Sunday, March 11th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM is the 2nd Annual Chaos Cook Off at Naked City. Nine local breweries will compete, preparing their best pasta sauce and pairing it with the perfect beer. This is a tickted event, and there are 100 tickets available for $35 a piece. For that price, you'll get to try all nine pasta and beer combinations and help select the winner. My wife Lynn and I had a great time last night at Pike Brewing Company's 4th Annual Chocofest. This was an event for lovers of good food, good beer, good wine, good spirits and good times; and proceeds went to help Farestart here in Seattle.

In just two days (This Sunday the 12th), Pike Brewing will be having their annual 'Chocofest'. This is an evening to pair great drinks with great chocoate and other delicious goodies.

I've attended this event once before a few years back. My wife and I both had a great time and we decided it was time to experience this wonderful evening of gastronic delights again. Rose & Charles Finkel know how to treat their guests right. This year's event will benefit Farestart here in Seattle. See Pike's full press release about the event HERE.

Brewery owners and brewers are typically on hand at these AHA Meber's Only events to answer questions, give brewery tours, pour free beer samples, etc. etc. It's a great way to meet fellow homebrewers and beer enthusiasts, get more into the local beer scene and to meet some special people. I'd like to shout out a big thanks to Pike Brewing for hosting this event.

I had a great time meeting a few friends and making a few new ones. I also got a chance to meet Charlie Papazian. I already know Charles Finkel and Dean Mochizuki. Kathryn had her hands full with member relations, as many new AHA members signed up in order to attend this event.

I'll have to keep my ears open for when the next local AHA rally will be. It was a lot of fun; and the only way to attend is to be an AHA member!
Seattle Beer Week is here! In just over 24 hours, things will kick off with the very first event, the Elliott Bay IPA Feast at Elliott Bay Brewing in West Seattle starting at 11:00AM. Personally, I'll be at work, so I can't make it to that one. The first event I will likely attend is the 5:30PM Seattle Beer Week kickoff at Maritime Pacific Brewing Company - brewer of this year's official Seattle Beer Week beer. After that, I may head over to Brouwer's Cafe for 'Seattle Beer Week Kickoff - Stop 2', starting at 7:00PM.
On Friday, I won't get the chance to attend many events besides my monthly homebrew club meeting. This month is our annual 'swap meet', where members can swap/trade/sell brewing equipment. I also plan to bring a few beers an ciders to trade or just share with my fellow brewers.
Saturday will keep me busy too with Beer & D'oh Nuts at 99 Bottles in Federal Way at 10:00AM, followed by Keggs & Eggs with American Brewing at the Brave Horse Tavern starting at 11:00AM. Later, I'm thinking of attending the World Class Brewer's Reunion at Pike Brewing Company, which begins at 2:00PM.
